As a completely new original video, screenings of “Mobile Suit Gundam: Friends of Light” will begin on Saturday, September 19!
Inspired by “Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack,” which has continued to be loved by many fans since its theatrical release in 1988, this original animated film features the ν (Nu) Gundam piloted by Amuro Ray and the Sazabi piloted by Char Aznable, depicted with newly arranged designs.
The director is Mankyu, who has worked on “Sumikko Gurashi: The Little Prince and the Friends of the Little Forest” and “PUI PUI MOLCAR THE MOVIE MOLMAX,” among other works.
The original character designs are by illustrator Kanahei, who has gained popularity among a wide range of generations through the “Kanahei’s Small Animals” series, including “Piske & Usagi.” The video presents the appeal of “Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack” from a fresh perspective, creating a pop and approachable animation that can be enjoyed by everyone from young children to adults.
Be sure to look out for the ending song, a children’s choir cover of the theme song from “Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack,” “BEYOND THE TIME ~Beyond the Mobius Universe~,” as well as the lighthearted original music created especially for this work.
With the start of screenings of the new wall projection video, the nighttime performance schedule will be changed as follows from Saturday, September 19, 2026.
